2. Set up multifactor authentication (MFA)

Set up Microsoft Authenticator app

Note: Setting up the Microsoft Authenticator app requires registering your device with Microsoft, but it does not require you to allow any Microsoft management of your device. If you decide not to register your device with Microsoft, skip this section and follow the Set up YubiKey steps below. 

  1. Download the Microsoft Authenticator app on your iOS or Android device. 

  2. Open the Microsoft Authenticator app. Make sure to allow notifications if prompted, and then select Add account

  3. Select Work or school account and Sign in. Use the Temporary Access Pass (TAP) you obtained from Identity Pass to complete sign in. 

  4. Follow the onscreen instructions to complete the setup of your credentials. 

  5. If using Android, configure Chrome: 

    • Open Chrome and navigate to the link chrome://flags
    • Search for passkey to find the flag Android Credential Management for passkeys
    • Change the flag from Default to Enabled for Google Password Manager and 3rd party passkeys
  6. Your Authenticator app is set up now! You can use this method to login to your work device or corporate resources. 

  7. Verify that you can login tooutlook.com/microsoft.com

Set up YubiKey (Optional) 

If you have a Microsoft distributed YubiKey, follow the steps below. 

Note: If you need a YubiKey, you can pick one up at Studio A/1909 during Redmond office hours (9AM-5PM Mon-Fri), or your manager can submit a request at Security Key Request Portal (requires corporate authentication). 

  1. On your Microsoft managed work or mobile device, go toaka.ms/mysecurityinfo in your browser. 

    If you do not have a Microsoft managed work or mobile device: 

    • Install theAzure Virtual Desktop Client on your Windows 11 PC. 
    • Open the Microsoft Remote Desktop app. 
    • Sign in with your corporate email address(alias@microsoft.com) and your Temporary Access Pass (TAP) which you received through Identity Pass. 
    • Select the My Signins icon under Manage my credentials
  2. Select + Add Sign-in Method

  3. Select Choose a method > Security Key

  4. Select Next > USB Device

  5. Select Next once you are ready to proceed. 

  6. Follow the onscreen instructions to complete the setup of your YubiKey. 

  7. You should see You’re all set! message, select Done

  8. Finally, you will see a security key in the list of sign-in methods. 

  9. Verify that you can login tooutlook.com/microsoft.com with your YubiKey.
